the children at the retention center.

the strident call and all appear

in line,

on broken benches and leaking glasses,

its time to dine,

food on platter some fresh,

some stale,

some faces smiling,

some faces pale,

some adjusting their clothes,

some teasing their mates

some imagining the world outside

some cursing their fates

some searching for dirt in the water

some sploshing it

some wearing old garments

some wearing unfit

the surliness of the elders

the sadness in the air

the adamancy of not accepting

how happiness could be there

some small some five,

some have just turned 9

they are waiting in the line

expecting to dine

with faces full of innocence

camouflaging the tagered weed

with mirrors of broken hearts

a borrowed pen,a book to read

some re tended for robbery,

some re tended for theft,

some found vagabonding like an orphan

some do not know why they are kept!!!

searching for happiness!

angel!

As I close my eyes and I see ur face, All my melancholy starts to erase, When I play with you; you win my heart, When you smile as I tease; I reach a world apart They say you re- live your childhood with a child I feel I’ve lived a new life with you Your frivolity, your drama your daffy adamancy Your obsession with yellow, your animal-world legacy And as ANGEL you’re growing up, I’m seeing a new you I still can’t forget How it’s similar to the first time I held you! Since you’ve given me new reasons to be retentive I’m sure when you grow up we have this bond strong Il stay by your side whenever you need But you’ll never leave me as you hug me, that’s all I plead :)

a girl like me!

a girl like me!

she sat there outside her college,

 Waiting to be there again

she wanted to be what life had taken from her,

she wanted to live again

they said she wont have the same life because

she had to be grounded

at an early age when she had to be glee

she sat across the aisle and weeps

 one day

she was upset and wanted to cry

she left her house and was kidnapped,

she tried to be back and prayed very hard

she had succeeded and returned safe and sound

before she could soak in what happened

 a battle she had won

her life she had got back

 and then

there were accusations and stories and blames

some laughed at her some said she lied.

 she never replied to haters

 she kept on her own

and lived with the truth day in and day out

 she made friends with paper,

her diary and pen.

she never cared for what they had to say,

not now and not then

she gathered her courage and lived like a bird

 and those who knew her

stopped calling her "absurd"

she's always in to stand by her own

she has no regrets no reason to moan

she's happy that the struggle that god chooses her to survive

 made her stronger and wise!
